Dear Dayquil,

You told me to take you so I could get to work and at least try to function. Instead, I don't know what time of day it is, focus is out the window & I really only just begun my day. The key word is- "loopy". So tonight when I get off work I have to ride the bus, go home, change,go tot the store, buy wine and some food and then take a cab to Emily's where the dinner party is being held. AHHH! I thought you were suppose to help! So to anyone coming to Dinner, expect the unexpected from me!

Love,

Wavves VS. Black Lips

So there was a fight in NYC at Daddy's between Nathan Wavves & Jared Black Lips. There is alot of talk of a bottle being broken, girlfriends spitting, pussy name calling- the works! Well I guess they are finally gonna duke it out-
This is an official statement from Jared-

"Bottom line is that faggot from Wavves didn't even hit me. Never touched me. And he should've, cuz he had a free shot.

He's coming to Atlanta October 3rd and we're gonna get ugly on him. We're gonna destroy their van, we're gonna destroy their faces, we're gonna get crazy on em'. Nasty style."

All I know is I wish I was gonna be in ATL to see this go down! I'm also gonna for sure go to Daddy's while I'm in New York- seems like the place where things happen! haha!

The Party

Wow, I don't know how this came together, or why there was even a party, but boy was it fun! Free wine and beer, also a spread of food in an amazing atmosphere! The only thing I really knew was that is was for Cafe Vita and it took place at Stimson Green Mansion. Here are a few pics taken by Rabid Child Images. You can get an idea of how beautiful the surroundings were and how wild the party was!!!

Mansion Party

So there is a mystery going on... There is a show Saturday at a Mansion, I guess with free booze and some awesome bands. Nobody seems to know the details, only that its going to be an amazing party! The line up is Fresh espresso, Fences and Champagne Champagne. Bust out your duds and lets kill it!

That Whitney

Could today get any better? Sunny skies, at work but I have a job and its lax. When I get off I'm going to a friends Birthday, at a Russian Bar, then going to a Bathhouse. Not sure if I will actually go to the bathhouse, nudity and vodka could be to crazy for a girl with a boyfriend! So I might make my way down to Belltown and check out They Live @ the Rendezvous.

Cute Lepers New Album!

My girlfriend Prisilla Ray, one of vox/sexy tambourine girls of the Cute Lepers filled me in that the album is done and will be released in early December. I got a sneak preview of the album at her place the other night and I must say it was very impressive! Her two favorite songs on the album are "Dirty Baby" which bassist Kicks sings on and her second fav is "Bob Forest Song"which is about the lead vocalist and lyricist for Los Angeles Bands Thelonious Monster. They will be playing The Reverb Festival on October 3rd in Ballard so be sure and check them out!

The Zeros

I caught the end of the Zeros set after the Bad Brains show. Walking into the Funhouse, I was bombarded by a lot of familiar drunk faces, all hugging and cheersing me as I walked to the front of the stage. The Zeros sounded extremely tight and looked pretty spiffy too in mod suits. they came back for two oncores! It was a great way to end the night!

HAHA!!!

Rip Off Video!?

What is up with zombies in punk rock videos? Kinda unoriginal at this point! Here is two original videos I can recall just from the top of my head, made years ago with a lower budget- and they are still better!!!

The Briefs
- This video came out like two plus years ago. A lot of my friends are in the crowd, I actually had to work that day otherwise I would be there!

Clorox Girls- This video is less similar, but still with the Zombies!!!

The Rip Off- A band Signed to Vice called Lullabye Arkestra. They aren't necessarily bad, but not the best either! I know way more deserving bands that need record deals!

True proof-The Northwest does it first & Best!!!

Protegee Girl Groups

I've always loved girl groups, and it seems in the 80s there were a few that were backed by very successful men...

Mary Jane Girls
- I was sold on the name! These girls were protégées of Rick James, getting there start as backup dancers/singers for his band. The only one that could really sing was Jojo. They each had a character in the group, sexy and streetwise, Leatherette,Valley girl and model. Rick James wrote and produced all there hits, check'em out!

Vanity 6/Apollonia 6- Prince suggested to his girlfriends to start a girl group, performing in lingerie, and singing very dirty lyrics, these girls get it done! Vanity, is obviously the leader, the six represents the number of boobs in the group! How clever you are Prince!

this is one of my favorite videos of all time!!!

convictions of a destitute banchee

Corina Bakker of The Tempers created this... I think its amazing!!! It pretty much covers all the bases of the Banshees running the streets today! In fact this will go down in a museum someday-A true period piece! Can you find me? ( I am standing where I actually would be- next to Pearl and Slats!)

Slacker...

Yes, I have been slacking, trying to enjoy the little bits of summer we have left. The parties are non stop, and I need to slow down! So that means chilling at home. So if you don't see my face I am probably sleeping...

The next show I'm for sure going to is Bad Brains. They are playing El Corazon Sat. Sept 19. I am doing an interview, so stay tuned!

BUZZER

Oakland Band, oh so cute and oh so grand! I met Andy years ago, he was in The Cuts and also Time Flys. This new project is even better, going back to a simpler sound. So, come down to the Funhouse Saturday, Sept 12 to rock out! And if anything, hit me up afterward, because these boys like to party!

Black Cab Sessions!

This is a lil program in England where bands get into a cab and do a little session. Champagne Champagne did one while at SXSW this year- its pretty filthy! Check it out here-

Rock n Roll Love Letter!

So I caught this band Thursday night, called The Weight, a Gram Parsons-isque band from Brooklyn. I only caught the last two songs they played, but definitely was very tight. Afterward I met and hung out with Jameson the keyboardist. I must say, I lalala love when touring bands come through, its entertaining to hear how there scene is and whats going on with new music. He also told me how he writes artilcles for Vice, about food of all things! He was super stoked to hear that I will be visiting NYC during CMJ Music Festival, and of course said he would show me around. Its great making friends from other cities kids, because then instead of visiting the statute of liberty, I get to kick it with the locals, go to the seedist parties and have a free place to stay. We never exchanged numbers, but he did save my address- vowing he would write me a"love letter". How fucking cute is that!?

The Beat!

In the punk scene, lots of the best bands are from the 70s and 80s. occasionally these bands make a comeback, and go on tour. My experience is seeing a band that I love and respect, butcher these songs in an attempt to relive the past. Well guess what guys, your old drunk living legends; perverts of the punk scene. Releasing shitty new albums and playing only a few songs people actually want to hear! You end up waiting at the show for hours only to hear two songs you absolutely love get butchered!

So tonight is no exception.I have a running list of bands I want to see before I die- The Beat is on it! Granted I started this list when I was 16, and have checked off most of them! The Beat is amazing example of Powerpop, and if you have never listened to them check out their self titled album- its like hit after hit!

Paul Collins actually wrote the song made famous by Blondie- "Hanging on the Telephone". So washed up or not, this guy definitely made his imprint on the music scene and whether or not the show goes well or not tonight, I am still going to enjoy his presence!

The Avengers are also playing (again a legendary female fronted punk band)

This is all going down at the FUNHOUSE TONIGHT!

DJ AM

I was fortunate enough to meet this talented guy at a show in Seattle about 4 months ago. Pearl from Champagne Champagne introduced me. He was sober, very polite and was working hard. Its so sad to hear of his loss. His Family released this statement-

"We appreciate the kind words and support for Adam over the past few days. Due to your inquiries, in lieu of flowers, AM's family would like to suggest making donations to the following charitable organizations: National MS Society or Friendly House: http://www.friendlyhouse.net/"

BRIDEZ

This is a band I came across, and to my surprise I really enjoy. I am no sure if its the music, or the really attractive lead singer,Liza. Either way, looks good!
They will be playing in Seattle on Sept. 12 two shows- One at BlackBird Clothing in Ballard and the other that night at Watertown.
